Collins Aerospace is looking for a motivated engineering co-op student to help us design, develop, and maintain high quality, reliable and safe avionics equipment.

As an engineering co-op in our Systems Architectures department, you will be responsible for working with other hardware and systems engineers to support new and existing products. Projects include ARINC 664 ethernet switches that will be certified for the upcoming Boeing 777x aircraft along with prototype work on Integrated Module Avionics (IMA) based equipment.

Responsibilities include:

  • Create and execute test artifacts to verify DO-254 based hardware requirements.

  • Document requirement test results in DOORS

  • Assist design engineer with Printed Wire Board (PWB) re-spin effort (BOM and PWB analysis/simulation/testing)

  • Support in-service avionics hardware failure investigations

The successful candidate will:

  • Be currently pursuing a degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering or Aerospace Engineering

  • Have demonstrated problem solving skills and an understanding of engineering principles

  • Have some experience with lab based tools (multi-meter. oscilloscope and power supplies)

  • Basic understanding of circuitry

  • Be able to work well in a team environment (team player with great attitude)

In addition to these skills, the candidate must be highly motivated, possess excellent communication skills (both written and verbal) and must be willing to work with a wide variety of people in a diverse team environment.

The Co-op session will start spring of 2020 and extend through the summer of 2020.
