United Technologies Aerospace Systems (UTAS) is among the largest global suppliers of technologically advanced aerospace and industrial products. We design and manufacture aerospace systems for commercial, regional, corporate and military aircraft and are a major supplier for international space programs.

The UTAS SIS-VT ACE team is looking for a high performance & goal oriented professional to lead ACE/Continuous Improvement activities within the SIS-VT site located in Vergennes, VT. The incumbent will be responsible for driving Lean initiatives across the site to bring all of operations to ACE Silver standards and beyond. This position will be responsible for integrating best practices and ACE initiatives. Success will be measured based upon the achievement of ACE targets, customer satisfaction, and improvement in the relevant operational KPI’s.

Qualification:

Candidate will lead projects and events as well as deliver training, coach others, and develop standards. This position will report to the ICAMS ACE Manager. Responsibilities will include, but may not be limited to the following:

  1. Extensive use of ACE Tools - Working with Product Line, Operational, and Functional leaders to identify and prioritize improvement initiatives to achieve business results using Process Management tools (SIPOC, Control Tower, Impact/Maturity analysis, MFA, QCPC, etc. ); establishing appropriate improvement strategies based on the nature of opportunities (Lead time reduction = VSM/Lean, Quality improvement = QCPC/Pro Cert, Major process change = 3P, etc.); and partnering with site leaders to drive ACE initiatives and transformation activities while improving overall KPIs and performance; Coaching, Facilitating or Leading advanced improvement events including: Value Stream Mapping of complex value streams, Mixed Model and Shared Resource Cell Design applications, Process Certification, Operations Analysis / Lean Cell Design, and Red X based Root Cause Analysis.

  2. Benchmarking and implementing a sustainable ACE Pilot Program

  3. Coaching individuals to develop ACE proficiency by leveraging formal training, improvement events, and mentoring. This includes managing portfolio of certified event leads to gain organizational self-sufficiency. Managing Superday training as well as Practitioner level ACE courses. Obtaining trainer certification if not already certified.

  4. Managing progress relative to the ACE Implementation Matrix. Managing the execution of periodic formal assessments and gap closure. Implementing a successful tracking and monitoring system for sustainment and progress towards ACE Silver and beyond, KPI performance, etc. Consolidating performance metrics, projects, and ACE activities; Driving KPI improvements including quality, delivery - lead time reduction, schedule stabilization, inventory turn improvement, and a "Plan For Every Part."

  5. Managing events in the ACE Certification Portal to enable success of individual event, document proficiency of event participants, and communicate both results and methods used to achieve them for others to leverage.
