UTC Aerospace Systems – Aerostructures, one of the world’s largest suppliers of technologically advanced aerospace and defense products for commercial, regional, business and military aircraft, helicopters and other platforms, has an immediate opening for an Environmental Health & Safety Generalist at our Riverside, CA facility.
The primary focus of this position will be to assist the Environmental, Health and Safety Manager to ensure compliance with federal, state and local requirements, UTC Aerospace Systems (UTAS) standards and the implementation, oversee, review, update and implement the facility Environmental Health & Safety programs, reports, training and procedures. The successful candidate will support in a moderately complex manufacturing environment.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following:
Write, review, update and implement Environmental, Health and Safety programs, procedures, reports and training as required by UTAS Policy and all Federal, State, and Local regulatory agencies.
Inspect, audit, assess and sample all facility activities related to ensuring safe work practices for compliance as required.
Follow the Environmental, Health and Safety Management System and work in a team environment to drive corporate initiatives, analyze and assess trend data, and facilitate relevant training.
Update and maintain site chemical and hazardous material inventory. Update waste profiles and help oversee hazardous waste removal in accordance with all regulatory requirements.
Help oversee site’s Storm Water Pollution Prevention Plan (SWPP), Waste Management Program, Illness and injury prevention plan, LOTO, Industrial vehicle program and Spill Prevention plan(SPCC). May perform inspections, collect samples, analyze data and oversee other programs.
Assist in the development of Environmental, Health and Safety policies and procedures to ensure the continuous improvement of the programs in the plant, including management systems. Train, coach and mentor others to improve their understanding of the Environmental, Health and Safety programs.
Investigate accidents and near misses to determine root cause and provides corrective action that eliminates repeat occurrences.
Recognizes and evaluates conditions that are potentially hazardous to health, facilities, equipment and product to determine root cause and provides corrective action that eliminates repeat occurrences.
Develop, coordinate and present training programs for related subjects required by federal, state, local and company requirements.
Uses the Lean Manufacturing tools to make improvements to the Environmental, Health and Safety management systems.
Interacts with employees on a daily bases to promote relationships, learn the task employees perform and be known as a resource to the employees at the facility.
Other duties as assigned.
Experience : 2 years experience preferred in environmental, health and safety support in a manufacturing environment.
