Position Overview:

The Assoc. Dir Engineering - Evacuation Systems provides management review and control over multiple disciplines of engineering efforts, including development of products, technology development, and production support. This managerial position integrates several specialized areas of engineering to support the Evacuation Systems business including development engineering, production support, technical data & services, materials & process engineering, product safety, advanced technology, and systems engineering.

Primary Responsibilities:

• Manages multiple disciplines over a range of products or processes over a diverse range of engineering disciplines within subordinate units.

• Supports the company in development of processes, methods and systems using ACE principles to improve the department and/or streamline department and business procedures.

• Focuses on managerial concerns of the project such as cost, completion date, and resource allocation. Provides expert resolution of issues and monitors integration of work.

• Reviews technical concepts of major projects and help shape the business strategy

• Personally participates in solving particularly difficult technical problems and ensure the correct resources are allocated to support these problems.

• Works to establish cross department collaboration and ensure/build a teaming approach to overcome production and development challenges

• Develops and manages department budgets

• Works with the business to ensure integrated product development team resources are available and cross department communication is occurring

• Develops process improvements to address production and development issues and improve process across the business and departments

• Handles personnel actions including recruitment, performance reviews, salary recommendations, employee relations and coordination of training and development.

Experience/Qualifications

Required:

• Direct management experience as technical leader

• Knowledge of FAA Part 25 regulations and applicable TSO standards

• Ability to multi-task and prioritize both daily issues and strategize longer term projects.

• Strong business acumen to support setting business and department priorities

• Superior interpersonal and influencing skills, including coaching and mentoring of other engineering staff

• Exceptional organizational, analytical, written and verbal communication skills

• Strong computer skills, MS Office

Preferred:

• 5-10+ years’ experience in a managerial role in the aerospace industry

• Knowledge of energetics systems or equivalent system

• Advanced degree with an engineering/technical focus or an MBA

• Lean/Six Sigma experience

• Advanced root cause analysis experience
