JOB SUMMARY:

  • Provide development process support to Metallurgical & Chemical organization for Laser drilling, cutting, EB and TIG weld processes applied to components manufactured at North Berwick Aero Systems.

  • Work with cross-functional teams including Cell Leaders and production personnel to continually improve processes and equipment capabilities.

  • Work from blueprints, process specifications and quality procedures to develop and improve manufacturing process yields, including improvements in tooling, capital equipment and process capability using 6-sigma and statistical process controls.

  • Work closely with Materials Engineering and provide guidance on new design concepts and repairs to best utilize equipment and standard practices.

  • Coordinate engineering tests and experiments to troubleshoot and improve processes related to design, materials, or processes.

Qualification:

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 5+ year’s related experience utilizing Laser, EB & TIG welding processes and equipment

  • 3 + years of experience in improving Laser performance, and implementing, maintaining, and improving process controls, inclusive of knowledge of aerospace materials, tool/fixture design.

  • 1-3+ years of experience with CNC machine tools.

  • Must be able to read, write, speak and understand English.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Experience in other Metallurgical & Chemical. Processes including Brazing, Plasma Spray, Plating & Peening, chemical cleaning etc. are a plus.

  • Strong knowledge of PFMEA and Statistical Process Control

  • Good interpersonal skills, ability to work effectively in a cross-functional environment.

  • Strong communication skills both written and verbal.

  • Strong computer skills and general office software.

  • Flexibility around work hours, for training and development activities.

  • Ability to manage multiple competing priorities simultaneously

Education:

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree (B.A/B.S) in Welding, Materials Science, Mechanical Engineering, or related field with 5+ year’s related experience utilizing Laser, EB and TIG welding processes

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Master’s degree (M.A/M.S) in Welding, Materials Science, Mechanical Engineering, or related field with 3+ year’s related experience utilizing Laser, EB and TIG welding processes
