The Systems Engineering & Validation (SEV) Assembly Engineering Organization is seeking a highly-motivated individual to be Balance Process Engineer in support of Commercial and Military Validation assembly processes.

The Balance Process Engineer responsibilities include:

  • Creation, development, and maintenance of balance work instructions

  • Leading the Process Certification effort for each part/assembly balance

  • Managing the balance machine tool specifications for the balance area includingfunction, calibration and maintenance

  • Leading transition of balance process solution to the production environment including training

  • Drive the development & deployment of comprehensive Balance Process Engineering standard work

  • Driving design-for-assembly/manufacturability (DFA/DFM) and module/part-family assembly process standard initiatives, working closely with all CIPTs/Module Centers, Mechanics, Operations Leaders

  • Actively participate and drive EHS initiatives within the balance discipline Identify & implement shop floor process optimization & control methods to eliminate/prevent QCPC turnbacks /escapes and reduce overall assembly costs

  • Participate in ACE initiatives supporting the achievement of ACE GOLD in the SEV

Significant interaction with the hourly work force, tool designers, integrated product teams, systems designers and program assembly partners are typical of the position.

A high level of proficiency and working-knowledge of ACE Tools is required including Process Certification & Management, Value Stream Mapping, Standard Work, QCPC/Root-Cause Analysis and Set-Up Reduction/Mistake-Proofing.


Basic Qualifications:

  • Must have a BS Degree in BS in Mechanical, Aerospace, Manufacturing, Industrial Engineering, Physics, Mathematics or related discipline

  • A minimum of 1-4 years of experience in mechanical or aerospace engineering, or manufacturing related to process development of gas turbine engine hardware.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Applicable balance process engineering experience, manufacturing engineering experience and engine system-level knowledge is a strong plus for this position.
