DESCRIPTION:

The Demand Planner has a highly visible supply chain role which oversees the Demand Planning (forecasting and inventory) requirements process. This is a hands-on position responsible for developing and executing regional demand and inventory plans that will enable the business to meet sales, service and inventory objectives. Collaboration with other members of the supply chain, sales, marketing and customer support teams is imperative to achieve these business goals.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Develop and utilize best practices (statistical models and software tools) to create forecasts and respective inventory targets

• Work with sales and marketing, customers, finance, and operations to develop 18-month forecast for finished goods at multiple levels of aggregation to support revenue, service and inventory targets

• Review historical sales trends and demand drivers, prepare forecast data, and evaluate statistical forecast models to drive productivity best results

• Prepare presentations in support of monthly S&OP reviews; facilitate reconciliation of recommendations between cross-functional teams; resolve issues by presenting various alternatives for decision and S&OP reviews

• Recommend and make consensus adjustments based upon changes in demand trending and inventory goals on a weekly basis

• Monitor SKU levels and recommend SKU rationalization initiatives; proactively facilitate life cycle management across functional teams to optimize service and eliminate E&O

• Evaluate and make recommendations for finished goods stocking levels to manage demand variation and support service and sales goals

• Perform root cause analysis on key metrics including service, inventory turns, expedited freight, and forecast error. Drive corrective actions as a result of analysis to improve performance against metrics

• Analyze and action daily both internal and external open order reports to support sales and service goals; coordinate with supply sources and Commercial OPS to re-align demand to supply

• Proactively communicate with Commercial OPS team supply issues and order delays

• Identify excess and obsolete inventory; recommend and drive disposition

• Develop and maintain standard work on key processes

QUALIFICATIONS:

3-5 years relevant work experience; 2 or more years’ experience in forecasting, planning, scheduling, MRP and procurement

• Strong analytical skills with an emphasis on attention to detail and accuracy; demonstrated ability to use data to develop actionable recommendations

• Knowledge of demand planning processes – including Sales & Operations Planning (S&OP) and experience using ERP statistical software modeling

• Excellent communication, facilitation and consensus-building skills

• Extensive data analysis experience using programs such as Microsoft Excel and strong mathematical skills

• Knowledge of key performance metrics: service, inventory turns, margin contributions, etc.

• Experience in managing product life cycles

• Ability to lead cross-functional teams

EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

Bachelor’s Degree in Supply Chain Management or related field, MBA Preferred

Qualification:

  • Strong analytical skills with an emphasis on attention to detail and accuracy; demonstrated ability to use data to develop actionable recommendations
