UTC Aerospace Systems (UTAS) is amongst the largest global suppliers of technologically advanced aerospace and industrial products. UTAS Aerostructures designs, manufactures and integrates nacelles, thrust reversers, pylons and flight control surfaces for commercial and military aircraft. The Original Equipment Manufacturing (OEM) facility in Foley, Alabama, performs all aspects of final assembly of Thrust Reversers, Pylons, Engine Build Up, Inlet Cowls, Fan Cowls, Exhaust Nozzles and Wire Harnesses. The Foley OEM facility is looking for a Manufacturing Engineer to join its team.

The Manufacturing Engineer is responsible for performance of a wide range of tasks and services in support of assembly operations, production and business unit objectives. Activities may include designing and planning of layout for assembly and materials handling, adaptation of machine or equipment design to factory and production conditions, planning of sequence of operations and specification procedures for the fabrication of tools and equipment and other functions that affect product performance. This position applies knowledge and experience of tooling and manufacturing methods and techniques utilizing lean manufacturing concepts for Aerostructures components and installations.

Qualification:

GENERAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • At least 18 years of age or older.

  • Ability to provide verification of US Citizenship, Permanent Residency or Work Visa to satisfy ITAR/EAR restrictions.

  • Willing to relocate to Foley, Alabama: relocation or interview travel reimbursement available.

  • Read, write, speak and understand English language.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication and listening skills.

  • Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees.

  • Intermediate to advanced Microsoft Office skills.

  • Resolve most questions and problems referring only the most complex issues to higher levels.

  • Self directed & action oriented with the ability to work with minimal supervision.

  • Demonstrate time, priority and stress management skills in a fast paced environment meeting deadlines while maintaining a customer-oriented demeanor.

  • Ability to work cooperatively with supervisors, co-workers, customers, and others in a team environment displaying mutual trust and respect.

  • Ability to be regular and predictable in attendance.

  • Ability to work varying shifts, including but not limited to nights, weekends, holidays, rotating shifts, and overtime as required.

  • Ability to use Personal Protective Equipment (PPE): safety glasses with side shields, hearing protection, and other PPE as needed for 8+ hours per day.

  • Ability to work in a constant state of alertness.

  • Comply with policies, applicable regulatory and company rules and requirements.

  • Knowledge of Continuous Improvement and Lean Manufacturing.

ENGINEERING QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

  • Knowledge of various CATIA and PC systems.

  • Knowledge of MRP system(s).

  • Knowledge of tooling concepts and manufacturing planning.

  • Knowledge of aluminum, steels, nickel base alloys, titanium, composites, graphite epoxy, Kevlar, fiberglass and adhesives.

  • Ability to read and interpret Specifications and Engineering Drawings.

  • Ability to develop and implement innovative solutions to problems involving quality, on-time delivery, manufacturing costs, etc.

PREFERRED:

  • Knowledge of SAP & TeamCenter

  • Knowledge of Aerostructures assembly and manufacturing preferred
