Pratt & Whitney's Commercial Engines, Engine Services organization is seeking a staff fleet powerplant engineer to be responsible for the management of gas turbine engine overhauls performed on customer aircraft fleets. The staff fleet powerplant engineer will support the technical management of Fleet Hour Agreement, Fleet Management Program and Materials Management Program maintenance, repair and overhaul contracts in order to minimize expenditures and improve engine maintenance interval/reliability.
The selected candidate for this position will engage in the following activities:
In partnership with fleet technical managers and engine overhaul centers, develop a cross-functional team to ensure smooth operational execution, continuous improvement in shop visit cost management and engine time-on-wing.
Establish and effectively communicate engine shop visit requirements.
Coordinate with engine centers to ensure effective implementation of work scope specifications, configuration requirements and specific engine shop maintenance instructions.
Work with fleet technical managers, identify and manage emerging issues as well as assess and mitigate technical risks to minimize maintenance interval and cost impacts through:
Maintenance planning including shop visit work scopes
Evaluation of hardware teardown conditions for potential, limit increases, part repair development or part redesign
Invoice deconstruction/trending/findings assessment – identification of cost drivers
Business case development – impact to financials
Service bulletin technical/business assessment
Shop visit technical support in order to limit workscope expansion
Resolution of technical or business questions/issues the engine center may have on specific engine or program requirements
Familiarity with engine overhaul processes and engine hardware, assembly, operation and testing
Familiarity with engine manuals, service bulletins and airworthiness directive (AD) notes
Experience in one or more of the following: powerplant, project, test, design, process or analytical engineering
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
