Description:

The Operations Discipline Chief role owns and executes the ACE (Achieving Competitive Excellence) Operations System across all the Module Center Value Streams. You will have direct leadership responsibility for managing a team of Operational Excellence (OpEx) Leaders and their staff. This position is responsible for working with the SVP of Operations and aligning with his/her leadership team to ensure the success of ACE, Policy Deployment, Governance, site transformations and efficiency metrics for Module Centers Value Streams and their sites. The leader will work within a matrix organization structure to support global Operational functions.

He/she will ensure that PW ACE systems and processes are put in place, best practices are implemented and accountabilities established to improve overall operational effectiveness. This person will be responsible for the ACE Council and be a key member of the ACE Leadership team.

Main Responsibility :

  • Ensure executive level alignment with your key customers (SVP’s/GM/ BL) & Module Center OpEx leadership team.

  • Deploy and track cost productivity targets provided to Module Center OpEx leaders to ensure value

  • Develop and track strategic initiatives that have multi-functional or multi-organizational impact to achieve ultimate effectiveness.

  • Effectively communicate implementation progress within and across all Module Centers and locations on a quarterly basis through their ACE Councils.

  • Through the rigorous use of change management disciplines, drive initiatives, processes, and ACE throughout the business and validate that outcomes impact business/functional performance. (Lighthouse cells) etc.

  • Guide OpEx leaders in understanding and usage of quality and continuous improvement methodologies by establishing links between Policy Deployment (PD) initiatives and business strategies and identifying and prioritizing high-impact opportunities.

  • Promote best proactive sharing for continuous improvement across all locations and departments.

  • Advice and counsel SVP of Operations and his direct staff on issues impacting Overall performance of their Customer Facing metrics (control Towers), (Quality, Delivery, Safety and Cost associated with Waste).

  • Assess benefits (tangible and intangible), including financial ROI, etc. and determine variance to the predictive benefits committed through Continuous Improvement.

  • Evaluates both strategic and crisis opportunities for improving the core businesses with OpEx Value Stream Leaders.

  • Proactively supports staff development including individual and team goals, coaching and counseling, training plans, mentoring and career planning.

  • Oversee Certification projects taking place within the Value Steams (ACE Masters, Black Belts, and Lighthouse Projects and ACP (ACE Certification Program) growth to ensure alignment to the overall business need and success.

Qualification:

  • 15 Years’ Experience of hands-on experience in the application of ACE / Toyota Production System (TPS) methods and way of thinking. Strong experience leading the development of Lean practitioners and leaders to create a strong foundation of continuous improvement.

  • Strong knowledge of Six Sigma tools and methods

  • 5-7 years’ experience in a senior leadership capacity.

  • Solid business acumen, proven team building skills, exceptionally good listening skills, results oriented with strong financial analysis skills.

  • Ability to coach and lead leaders to develop continuous improvement strategies, influence decision making, deploy Hoshin Kanri, and drive continuous improvement initiatives within and across operations and functions.

  • Demonstrated experience in managing operational excellence teams to deliver on breakthrough business results, while establishing underlying conditions that enables stable supply, built-in quality, low labor and capital requirements, and just-in-time delivery.

  • Demonstrated understanding of emotional intelligence – self-awareness, self-management, social awareness, and relationship management

  • Excellent Communication and presentation skills

  • Demonstrated competency working across business units and company cultures.

  • Flexible team player with demonstrated ability to lead, mentor, coach and develop others

Education:

  • Bachelor's Degree required, Business Administration, Finance, Industrial Engineering preferred.

  • MBA/MS preferred, Operations management

  • Lean Six Sigma Black Belt certification from an organization is required.

  • Previous positions as a GM or Operations Manager preferred
