Under direction of supervisor follow instructions and drawings to plan and layout material requirements, determine sequence of operations required support services and obtain tools and equipment to meet schedule requirements. Follow up to assure equipment and supplies are available when required.
Perform equipment overhauls alterations, maintenance and repair work and carryout preventive maintenance and service as required.
Assist others in job or project requirements, care, use and maintenance of equipment and safe working practices.
Develop monitoring and servicing techniques for unusual or ongoing troublesome operations.
Work on special assignments with supervisor, engineers, vendors or other trade groups and customers to review and prepare for equipment modifications or repairs and new installations. Recommend service requirements and check to make sure required specifications are accomplished.
Perform similar duties throughout the facility within the scope and skill level of this job description. Assist other trades working on join projects where common skill crossover provides the opportunity for shared responsibilities and more effective use of available skills.
May be required to train for, obtain and maintain licenses, operator permits and certifications within assigned trade.
Requires knowledge of repair and overhaul methods as applied to heavy machinery. Together with knowledge of mechanics, hydraulics, and servo-systems. Work from drawings and schematic diagrams, read technical material of some complexity, and use mathematics through trigonometry. Use precision measuring instruments and equipment to check machines and equipment for accuracy. Equivalent to 2-3 years trades training. 4-5 years of experience.
