Pratt & Whitney's Core Manufacturing Engineering Organization is seeking a Sheet Metal Specialist Manufacturing Engineer to provide technical support to our suppliers for all types of sheet metal processes. As a sheet metal specialist you will work as part of Core Manufacturing Engineering to provide technical support to both domestic and international suppliers as we increase production on our Geared Turbo Fan and F135 engine programs. This position will be located in E. Hartford, CT.

Essential duties and responsibilities:

• Provide technical support for domestic and international suppliers with sheet metal manufacturing methods, processes, and tooling for the manufacture of jet engine parts.

• Provide expert technical support to suppliers for sheet metal processes such as cold forming, hydro forming, stretch forming, and hot forming and the tooling for these processes.

• Coach and provide manufacturing technical support for supplier development and problem resolution plans.

• Team with quality, design engineering, and procurement to provide manufacturing solutions to manufacturing issues at the suppliers.

• Provide input for short and long term process improvement, cost reduction, and automation opportunities at the suppliers.

• Troubleshoot quality issues by engaging in root cause analysis, corrective action, and mistake proofing of manufacturing processes and tooling.

• Participate in supplier assessments for technical, quality, manufacturing capabilities, and capacity.

• Identify production quality risks to full rate production and provide manufacturing input for mitigation plans.

• Provide urgent manufacturing technical problem solving for critical supply issues.

Ideal candidates are energetic, flexible, ethical, creative, and possess a positive attitude. Successful candidates must have strong manufacturing engineering background and shop operations experience, with a minimum of 6 - 8 + years of experience. Technical expertise in cold forming, hydro forming, stretch forming, and hot forming and the tooling required for these processes is required. Additionally, an understanding of Lean or Six Sigma tools, excellent written and verbal communication, analytical problem solving, and being detail oriented are needed for this position.

Education

Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Aerospace Engineering or related technical field is required.

Certifications

U.S. citizenship required.
