Plan and perform the work to setup and operate various machines and equipment to produce turbine engine parts, where methods and techniques are established, and proper tooling/fixturing is provided. Assist others in developmental efforts.
Work from operation sheets, drawings, computer generated information and other pertinent instructions to set up, operate and adjust machines and equipment within assigned areas.
Follow standard practices and operating procedures to manufacture and assemble a variety of turbine engine parts.
Work from quality review and corrective work documents or other similar instructions to rework or repair parts, using prescribed repair instructions and procedures.
Plan and perform bench assembly, finishing and rework operations. As assigned, using hand tools, power tools, and other equipment to process parts though various stages of manufacture.
Develop personal techniques, as needed, to remove tool marks, scratches, dents, stains and other imperfections at the final stages of the manufacturing process where dimensional specifications, as well as cosmetic appearances are critical.
Plan and perform various braze fabrication operations such as assembly, sizing, straightening, applying braze pastes and powders. Resistance tack welding, and other pre and post braze operations.
Use a variety of fixed and variable measuring instruments to check dimensions and record results. Utilizing OPCERT and other computer programs as required.
Perform routine servicing throughout the assigned area following specified procedures and written instructions such as Operator’s Checklist for upkeep and to assure equipment operates properly.
Assist others responsible for new part process tryout, repair and other specialized assignments within the scope and skill level of this job description.
Requires a knowledge of machining including machine shop practices, offsets, workholding methods and cutting quality of metals and ability to apply shop mathematics and formulas. Read and interpret engineering drawings, use a variety of precision measuring instruments such as micrometers, height gages and verniers.
2-3 years of prior experience required.
