Work with and assist engineers within large alloys & coatings development group and perform a variety of tasks associated with structural alloy characterization and process development and production support. Candidate must be able to work in a metallurgical laboratory and handle the chemical reagents required to prepare metallurgical samples for microstructural analysis and has proficiency in use of equipment such as metallographic mounting presses, polishing units and cut-off equipment. Candidate is required to document microstructure using a metallograph, and be able to create drawings showing extraction locations for mechanical property specimens. Candidate will also assist engineers coordinate specimen machining and test. The technician will be committed to EHS compliance and will have the appropriate knowledge, practical capability and use ACE tools to achieve program goals

Qualification: Two to four years of experience in the area of laboratory metallurgical sample preparation, analysis & documentation is required. Organizational skills related to capture, analysis and reporting of data and experimental findings are critical. Experience in laboratory cleanliness methods (6S), lean processing methods and visual work-places is desired. Understanding and experience with specialty laboratory procedures and work instructions is essential. Software skills that include Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Unigraphics are highly desirable. Occasional overtime and travel is required.

Education: AS degree in Materials Science and Eng., Environmental Engineering, or Engineering Technology.
