Job Description

This 2018 Spring Co-Op position begins in January, 2018 and runs through August, 2018. (This is not a summer internship.)

As a Quality Systems Engineering Co-Op in Danbury, CT, you will support the quality department (including quality assurance engineering, quality systems and inspection) in implementing lean manufacturing principles, metrics, work instruction updates, nonconformance tracking, COPQ (cost of poor quality), process improvement, build book reviews, and other quality assurance tasks as assigned. You will gain exposure to receiving and inspection areas, test data review, discrepancy tracking and investigations. Day to day activities can involve significant interaction with other functional groups including Engineering, Supply Chain and Operations.

You will benefit from working side by side with a talented and experienced group of professionals eager to mentor. You may work in both lab and office environments. You may be exposed to chemicals and solvents, and may be required to move throughout the facility. You will be required to wear appropriate PPE if needed. At the end of the co-op term, you will be asked to deliver a presentation to the leadership team, to discuss your experience and contributions.

Housing stipends are offered to those who qualify.

Qualification:

  • Ability to use micrometers, calipers, gauges, scales, multi-meters, and various test equipment

  • Knowledge of the metric system and the ability to do simple conversions from English to the metric system

  • Good vision and manual dexterity for use of computers and other equipment. Ability to handle delicate materials

  • Good judgment in identifying issues and when escalation is required for appropriate resolution

  • Ability to closely monitor a process throughout long periods of time (1-10 hours) without losing focus

  • Must be able to work under pressure while ensuring standards are met

  • Advanced Problem solving abilities with the ability to recommend solutions

  • Must be able to follow written and verbal instructions

  • Knowledge of basic MS Office software

  • Ability to work independently and learn in a fast paced environment

  • Teamwork and collaboration

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills

  • Minimum 3.0 GPA

  • US Citizenship required / single citizenship only

Education: Must be a full time student and have completed at least your sophomore year towards a Bachelor's degree in a Business Discipline or Engineering Discipline - preferably mechanical engineering but all disciplines will be considered.
