  • Be a key member of a team tasked with developing high performance, low cost, low power wireless communication solutions integrated into gas, chemical, smoke and heat alarms, other life safety notification devices

  • Participate with the team in system design and innovation, prototyping and transitioning to production

  • Perform analysis and/or simulation on RF circuit designs prior to assembly to ensure design goals will be met

  • Provide insight into design opportunities and risk assessment

  • Generate and analyze antenna patterns

  • Model and predict maximum RF communication range

  • Define, identify and integrate RF subsystems and components into complete product designs

  • Perform RF range testing/verification of products communications performance

  • Develop functional circuit test (FCT) techniques for and provide support to production engineers tasked with the transition of products to manufacturing

  • Oversee the qualification and certification of products to applicable market regulations (FCC, IC, R&TTE/RED)



  • 5+ years’ experience in low power electronic circuits

  • 3+ years’ experience in RF circuit and antenna design

  • Analog/digital experience that includes familiarity with sensor, data acquisition, signal conditioning, low power op amps, and microcontroller interface to analog circuits

Desired Skills:

  • Skilled in the use of RF test equipment: network analyzer, spectrum analyzer, signal generators

  • Familiarity with RF propagation, antenna/transmission line design and analysis, PCB layout

  • Troubleshoot and mitigate RF communications issues

  • Mitigation of EMI issues

  • Familiarity with common communication protocols (Wi-Fi, Zigbee, Z-Wave, etc.)

  • Experience with low power analog circuit design

  • Physically debugging circuits ‘troubleshooting to component level’

  • Rework of surface mount components using microscopes, tweezers, hot air reflow

  • Use of statistics and statistical analysis of critical performance parameters

  • Experienced with Microsoft Office Suites
