The Supplier Operations Support (SOS) Manager is responsible for overseeing the operational performance of critical suppliers. Responsibilities include collaborating and leading across multiple functions, such as: Manufacturing, Manufacturing Engineering, Facilities, Quality Control, Material Planning & Logistics and Tactical Supply Chain. The position requires frequent interaction with internal and external customers at multiple levels within the organization of the business unit, supplier and affected external customers.

This position leads multiple SOS teams of Aerostructures and supplier employees through both direct and indirect reporting relationships. The Supplier Operations Support team drives all necessary activities to achieve immediate short term performance and minimize medium and long term risk to the Aerostructures business unit for suppliers that are severely underperforming.

Ensure supplier is capable of re-assuming operations management entirely with their own resources

Complete due diligence activities to identify and assess supplier operational risks

Combine analysis of metrics with conversations and observations at supplier to identify actions required to improve performance

Recognize and hire the required skills for each on-site multi-function team, then manage and develop the team

Maintain compliance to all regulations, laws and management systems requirements

Demonstrate operational excellence in safety, quality, delivery, cost and organizational development

Maintain alignment with commercial agreements between the supplier and the business unit

Create and maintain an integrated schedule that holds supplier and other stakeholders accountable for deliverables

Recommend and implement mitigation plans to ensure on-time delivery of products

Prioritize daily activities, escalating issues for real time problem resolution

Coordinate activities with internal and external suppliers and customers

Track and communicate the ongoing performance of the supplier to the established metrics

Standardize best practices across operations at the supplier

Support the demand management planning process to meet on-time delivery targets and future rate breaks

Validate capacity, demand, and resource plans (equipment, tooling and people) to ensure rate readiness

Develop and refine manufacturing and business processes to achieve required demonstrated output

Develop effective shop floor visuals and efficient material flow in the value stream

Ensure demonstrated yield is used in all manufacturing planning

Champion lean transformation at the supplier through the use of continuous improvement tools and processes

Ensure effective implementation of product design and manufacturing technology changes

Ensure successful implementation of new program development activities

Drive long term actions that position the supplier to return to acceptable operational performance

Qualification:

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Business related field

Eight (8) years Operations and/or Supply Chain experience, including three (3) years in a management role with direct reports

Strong analytical, numerical and reasoning abilities

Demonstrated ability to establish and mature a Continuous Improvement culture

Familiarity with PMBOK and project management tools

Strong written and verbal communication skills across the organization, from working level to executive

Results oriented, with a strong bias for action

Ability to develop and motivate personnel to meet operational expectations

Skilled at building effective multi-functional teams

Participative management philosophy that leads by example

Strong interpersonal skills to collaborate, influence and lead across value streams, functions, and sites

Comfortable using formulas, pivot tables and other functions within Microsoft Excel to organize data

Able to create and maintain Microsoft Project schedules

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Master’s degree in Engineering or Business related field

Experience managing contractors and teams in different geographic locations

Chemical processing, machining, metal fabrication or composites manufacturing experience

Demonstrated experience implementing world class manufacturing techniques

Experience with single piece flow in a mixed model production environment

Demonstrated experience with new program introductions
