Material Management Manager will be responsible for inventory control, by utilizing Sales, Inventory and Operations Planning (SIOP) processes. Managing all metrics required for the Materials Management department.

This role manages the shipping/receiving & warehouse teams to include the material coordinators to ensure inventory goals and targets are being met. Provide regular and timely reports and interpretation of results to leadership and employees. Own work towards the elimination of the annual physical inventory. Champion, measure, and drive inventory accuracy and reduction within the warehouse utilizing process improvements, visual controls, and partnerships with other functional areas.

Manage a highly effective planning organization to customer service and reduce lead-time.

Creates a master schedule and planning horizons to meet completion dates according to sales forecasts and/or customer order expectations in line from established lead-time parameters.

Analyzes and suggest/implement solutions to production/material variances. Establishes inventory levels by studying supply usage patterns and forecasts; setting reorder points.

This position will lead efforts to ensure that the enterprise resource planning system (ERP) is reflective of the production schedule, standardize material planning optimize master scheduling and production flow within the manufacturing facility through the utilization of capacity planning practices, level loading, logistics from the line back concepts and Lean/Six-Sigma tools.

The incumbent is responsible for promoting actively an ethics-based business culture in his/her organization, ensuring that all associates are aware of and fully comply with UTC’s “Code of Ethics,” the “Policy Statement on Business Ethics and Conduct in Contracting with the U.S. Government,” and related policies. Incumbent shall ensure that employees are trained in the standards of conduct articulated in the “Code of Ethics” and that policies, procedures, and other materials that explain in a practical manner what is required of employees are available or disseminated. This includes taking all steps necessary to foster open communications and to support UTC’s compliance, business practices, DIALOG, and Ombudsman programs.

*Education / Certifications

BA/BS degree w/6+ years experience preferred

MA/MS degree w/4+ years experience preferred

PhD degree w/2+ years experience preferred

*Experience / Qualifications

Thorough understanding of supply chain concepts and their financial impact (inventory turns, cash flow, and working capital) is required.

Experience with managing and developing dotted-line relationships.

Ability to work both in a Management oversight capacity and in detailed hands on system capacity.

Has strong material, planning and workflow management skills and relevant manufacturing knowledge. Can demonstrate strong analytical skills with advanced application of statistical process control. Has exceptional knowledge of MRP and capacity management.

Ability to lead business analysts and subject matter experts to establish the technical vision and analyze tradeoffs between usability and performance needs of ERP system.

Experience as change agent or continuous improvement leader in challenging existing business process approaches.

The successful candidate will exhibit leadership qualities that reflect experience in inventory management and/or supply chain management, and should be proficient in data analysis and project management. Experience with SAP is a plus.
