EH&S Co-Op Opportunity: with a focus on Industrial Hygiene, Chemical Safety, High Risk Processes and Risk Reduction

You will be exposed to a variety of work projects such as: Safety Reviews, Industrial Hygiene, Chemical Evaluations, High Risk Process Assessments, Risk Reduction Activities, Incident Investigations, EH&S Training, Audits and Inspections, Management of Change and Policy and Procedure reviews.

Key Responsibilities:

- Run reports and evaluate data from the UTAS reporting system to evaluate PPE injury trends, IH monitoring and High Risk processes.

  • Review IH reports to ensure correct occupational exposure limits and recommendations are referenced.

  • Enter IH data and requirements into UTAS reporting system, follow-up with sites to ensure completion of recommendations.

  • Develop presentations and training webinars on various industrial hygiene and risk reduction topics as needed.

  • Update EH&S written programs as needed

  • Monitor site compliance with OSHA Process Safety Management (PSM) requirements for high risk explosive operations, combustible dusts, chemical and flammable processes

  • Provide support with chemical Safety Data Sheet (SDS) reviews and REACH program implementation

Qualification: Basic Qualifications :

  • Must currently be enrolled at an accredited BS or MS degree pursuing a degree directly related to EH&S (IH, Safety, Occupational Health, Environmental, etc.). Must have a 3.0 GPA and completion of at least 30 credit hours.

  • Must be a U.S. Citizen or have Permanent Resident status.

  • Ability to work independently after assigned a task

  • Ability to manage time to complete tasks assigned

  • Attention to detail - this job requires writing programs, instructions and compliance with all EHS regulatory and UTC EHS requirements

  • Communication skills - ability to speak with all levels of an organization both verbally and written

  • Computer skills required - Excel, Word, Powerpoint and Outlook
