UTC Climate, Controls & Security (CCS) Compression Technology team has a unique opportunity for a driven and self-directed product development engineer with a proven track record to work on advanced centrifugal compressor programs. The position will be based in Syracuse, NY and collaborate with resources and stakeholders globally.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Design and development of Centrifugal compressors for next generation high efficiency chiller products; Applying state of the art Model Based Development techniques yielding efficient, robust and cost effective designs

  • Strong knowledge of and experience designing turbomachinery or other high speed rotating equipment required

  • Exposure to common manufacturing processes such as casting, forging, CNC machining, dynamic balancing, lubrication systems and bearing installation techniques is valued for cost effective sourcing and DFM decision making

  • Lead focused design/drafting teams in relation based compressor design from concept through production launch; Working with a global team of engineers, designers and experts integrating new technologies within greenfield compression projects

  • Applying and improving existing product development techniques for, robust design, manufacturability, statistical tolerance and should cost analysis while meeting core performance and cost requirements

  • Coordination of prototype and test activities for design validation and performance ratings

  • Support manufacture and quality functional groups as needed for sustaining activity and new product introductions

  • Support testing of customer units

  • Analyze the test data and provide trouble shooting solutions

Qualification:

EXPERIENCE / QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Candidates should have 7+ years of experience in the design and development of Centrifugal compressors or like turbomachinery products and provide evidence of technical depth

  • Effective communication skills, teamwork, a positive attitude

  • Ability to work in a multi-cultural global organization are essential

Position could be located in Syracuse, NY & Charlotte, NC.
